The Network for Peace through Dialogue
in cooperation with Marymount Manhattan College

Presents

Dialogue In/As Action

Israeli & Palestinian Voices From the Field

Just Vision

Irene Nasser, who led the session, posted a number of quotes around the room revolving around different themes (fear, conceptions of peace, dialogue/reconciliation work, and civic engagement in nonviolence & peace-building). Each of those quotes was taken from one of the Israeli or Palestinian peace-builders who are featured on the Just Vision website. We were asked to spend some time reading each of these quotes, and then to write a quote of our own, fitting with one of these four themes. For most of the rest of the session, the group, all together, read through the quotes we had each written and dialogued about the issues that each quote brought up. The discussion was intense and meaningful, and although the focus of the session was primarily Israel/Palestine, our discussion carried us into topics ranging from South Africa to remaining optimistic to peace-building in general. It was fascinating to hear such different perspectives about issues that are so closely related to what we as peace-builders experience, no matter our geographic area of focus.
