Peggy Ray

Peggy Ray brings her background in journalism, teaching, and couseling to her Network involvement. She has an undergraduate degree in journalism from Northwestern University and an M.A. in Teaching of English from Teachers College, Columbia University. In the early '90s she worked at Educators for Social Responsibility in New York where she assembled a curriculum on conflict resolution for their Resolving Conflict Creatively program in elementary schools. She has taught basic education to adults with poor reading and math skills who lacked high school diplomas. Most recently, she was employed in a women's center as a tutor and vocational counselor for women with substance abuse histories and/or children in foster care. Before that, she worked with men recovering from substance abuse as a vocational counselor. She sees her work with the Network as a way to play an active role in creating a culture of peace.
