Christian Tanyi of LUKMEF and the African Peace Institute

The first financial support towards the African Peace Institute has been received from the Network for Peace through Dialogue during a Living Room Dialogue held at the organization's office in New York. Christian Tanyi took time to explain and share experiences with the members. This was followed by critical thinking with members expressing their viewpoints concerning the concept of the African Peace Institute. Commenting on the financial donation, members of the Network said it was a symbolic gift and hope to mobilize more donors to support this lofty initiative. "We must focus on building global peace through innovative local programs and actions while encouraging global dialogue," Kathleen Kanet concluded. Also present were Courtney Smith, Beverley Rouse, Frances Amando, Anne Considine, Margaret Groarke, Virginia Dorgan, Dorothy McWhite, and Dr. Nchinda Godwin.

After the dialogue, Christian said, "It will go down in history that the foundation of the African Peace Institute was laid during this Living Room Dialogue. I am so happy that the first funds to hit the project account here in the U.S. come from this living room. I would like to thank all those who contributed towards this project during this dialogue and appreciate those who may still want to contribute."
