Shaping Our Future online forum :

Network for Peace through Dialogue has a goal of engaging grassroots groups and individuals from various parts of the world in
the new "Shaping Our Future" online forum. Those who wish to be a part of this online dialogue will read what other participants say and agree to write at least two responses each month. Although the dialogue begins on the internet, we expect eventual face-to-face meetings. See the sidebar for how to register...It's so easy!

Our current topic is Migration. Participants come from all walks of life and live across the United States and in Cameroon, Nepal, and the Philippines. In sharing their personal experiences and listening to the experiences of others, participants hope to gain a deeper understanding of a complicated issue. In addition to addressing the issue at hand, the online dialogue is designed as a venue for participants to develop and hone strong dialogue skills. We encourage participation from a range of cultures and political backgrounds in order to deepen understanding among ourselves and broaden the perspective we can then bring to the critical problems we all face.

We welcome new participants, either as individuals or in groups. Our hope is that this dialogue will extend beyond the online forum and that individuals will expand participating by bringing together family, friends, colleagues or associates informally to discuss the
questions. The results of such discussions could then be posted online. We also welcome suggestions for new topics to be pursued.

To register for the FORUM, send your name, e-mail, address, phone number, and a brief statement about why our forums interest you to the below address:

shaping.our.future.dialogue@gmail.com

Once you're registered, you will be able to read the archives of our dialogue and submit your own thoughts to the group via e-mail. We believe that in seeking solutions together, we will find ways to bring about effective change.

The best from the Dialogue team! We look forward to our dialogue.

The last series of international dialogues was called "Neighborhood by Neighborhood, How can we build a Sustainable World?" Proceedings and outcomes from its culminating workshop in January, 2002 can be found in the book How can people of different cultures come together to make sense of our world?
